Novie central idea is interesting and the performances are interesting too. Michael Winner’s The Nightcomers is a prequel that succeeds in nothing, other than to rob its literary forebear and Jack Clayton’s classic adaptation of Henry James’ novella, of much of their psychological ambiguity and quiet sense of unease.
