I’m running on Ultimate Vista 64bit. I had the same thing happen, and determined that you have to go back to an earlier version of the Authentec driver to make it work. Maybe these different versions are meant for different models, but they appear to be the same driver. I would go straight to the Device Manager and Rollback, but the option is greyed out. I have updated the program and restarted the computer several times however the reader is still not detected.

I have updated the program and restarted the computer several times however the reader is still not detected. Resources for IT Professionals. I can still see the update in update history and it says the installation failed. Go through the list in this article to troubleshoot this problem.

Tuesday, October 7, This was before I installed the new drivers from HP site. Microsoft would disable this update before launch a fixed one, since this is causing many issues.
The fingerprint sensor was working fine until Windows updated the driver about a week ago. I had the same thing happen, and authentecc that you have to go back to an earlier version of the Authentec driver to make it work.

Tuesday, October autbentec, I managed to make most functionality run on that installation, albeit buggy and slow, running assorted drivers in compatibility mode. Installing HP’s SimplePass, things worked straight away!

The same thing happened after and before installing SP1 for Vista. Note on archived topics. Earlier this week I installed autjentec bit version od Windows 7 Ultimate, because the upgraded installation did run into problems sometimes, requiring a long time to get an ip address etc.
However, it is unresponsive and the preinstalled program doesnt recognize it.
Monday, October 6, Thank you for your help. At the windows login I get a “Reader not detected” message and in DigitalPersona “The fingerprint reader is not connected. Message 2 of 2. Sunday, October 12, 1: Even after reinstalling it all it still won’t recognize. I have updated this from the troubleshooting section of the HP Support website.
Windows indicates that the reader is installed and working properly and that the drivers are up to date. I’m running on 2501w Vista 64bit.
